Numerais em Inglês (Numerals)

Assim como no português, no inglês os numerais são separados em números para contagem (cardinais) e números para ordenação (ordinais).

Sabendo escrever os números colocados na tabela, você saberá montar qualquer número.

Observe a tabela, e depois mostraremos como montar os outros números.

* Observação: Em inglês, o uso da vírgula e do ponto nos números é invertido em relação ao português.

Lendo números cardinais

Para montar números com casa de dezenas, usamos o hífen:

22 = twenty-two
38 = thirty-eight
77 = seventy-seven

Para os números na casa das centenas, miilhares, milhões... é só juntar os números:

158 - One hundred fifty-eight
491 - Four hundred ninety-one
1,383 - One thousand three hundred eighty-three
4,500 - Four thousand five hundred
75,000 - Seventy-five thousand
1,250,135 - One million two hundred fifty thousand one hundred thirty-five
E por aí vai.

Algo que você poderá ouvir que não é comum no português é algo do tipo "fourteen hundred". Isso significa "14 centos", ou 1,400. Portanto, quando há hundred, coloque dois zeros, ok?

Lendo números ordinais

Para números ordinais, o número da dezena é usado na forma cardinal:

58th - fifty eight
39th- thirty nineth
22nd - twenty second
